Book Talk: In the Worldwide Family of Militant Women

The People’s Forum hosts an in-person book talk and discussion on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, featuring veteran activist and author Arlene Eisen in conversation with Claudia De La Cruz. The event centers on Eisen’s book, In the Worldwide Family of Militant Women, published by Iskra Books.

The discussion brings forward the histories and political lessons of women who took part in twentieth-century national liberation and anti-imperialist struggles. Eisen draws on decades of participation in movements against war and racism, linking the frontline roles of women fighters and organizers across Vietnam, Cuba, and the United States. Rather than treating these struggles as isolated historical episodes, the speakers examine how internationalist solidarity was built across borders and how those collective experiences inform contemporary fights against militarism, state violence, and corporate exploitation.

The event runs from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, though attendees are encouraged to register in advance. The People’s Forum is located at 320 West 37th Street, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues in Midtown Manhattan, and is accessible by the 1, 2, 3, 7, A, C, E, M, N, Q, and R subway lines. Registration details and additional background are available through The People’s Forum.
