Sahel Solidarity Fest

The People’s Forum hosts the Sahel Solidarity Fest, an in-person gathering and fundraiser organized in support of mass movements and public institutions in the Sahel region following recent political transformations across West Africa.

The afternoon program features keynote addresses from the permanent representatives to the United Nations from member nations of the Alliance of Sahel States: Ambassador Issa Konforou of Mali, Ambassador Saïdou Zongo of Burkina Faso, and Samadou Ousmane of Niger. In addition to diplomatic remarks detailing regional developments, the gathering brings together cultural performances, local community vendors, and complimentary food. Organizers note that all ticket proceeds go directly toward supporting grassroots organizations, civic institutions, and state structures in the Sahel.

According to the organizers, the event provides a public space to examine the regional political shifts and sovereign movements taking shape across Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, connecting international solidarity in New York City with community struggles on the ground. It offers an opportunity for collective dialogue, political education, and material backing for civic institutions navigating transformative changes in West Africa.

Admission is forty-eight dollars per ticket, or $52.45 when purchased online, inclusive of ticketing service fees. Advance registration is strictly required, as attendance is limited to 150 people due to venue capacity.

The event is held at The People’s Forum, located at 320 West 37th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues in Manhattan. More information and registration details are available through The People’s Forum website and via Eventbrite.
